Sumi Art

Bokusho is a form of abstract expression created with sumi ink. Rather than depicting recognizable objects or written characters, it explores the expressive qualities of ink through variations in tone, bleeding, dry brushwork, movement, line, and negative space.

In my work, I value the quiet strength that emerges from the contrast between dense black ink and open white space. I work intuitively, allowing the brush, ink, water, and paper to respond to one another. Through this process, I give form to emotions and inner movements that cannot always be expressed in words.

For me, creating art is also a way of looking inward. I value time spent quietly reflecting and listening to what arises within. At the same time, I create live Bokusho performances in collaboration with music and other performing arts, transforming the movement and energy of sound into lines and forms.

Whether working alone or performing before an audience, I continue to strengthen and refine each line, seeking an expression that is simple, honest, and alive.

墨象 ― 墨による抽象表現

墨象とは、墨を用いて表現する抽象芸術です。 具体的なものや文字を描くのではなく、墨の濃淡、にじみ、かすれ、線の動き、そして余白を通して、墨そのものが持つ表現の可能性を探ります。

私の作品では、深い黒と白い余白の間に生まれる、静けさと力強さを大切にしています。筆、墨、水、紙が互いに反応することに身を委ね、直感のままに描きます。その過程を通して、言葉では表しきれない感情や、心の内側の動きを形にしています。

私にとって表現することは、自分自身と向き合うことでもあります。静かに自分を見つめ、心の声に耳を澄ませる時間を大切にしています。一方で、音楽や舞台芸術とコラボレーションし、音の動きやエネルギーを線と形に変える、ライブの墨象パフォーマンスも行っています。

一人で作品に向き合う時も、観客の前で表現する時も、一本一本の線を鍛え、磨きながら、シンプルで、正直で、生命力のある表現を探し続けています。
